Description
The aim of the competition is to research and develop forensic methods for auditing artificial intelligence in order to proactively empower the German state and its organs with legal certainty and procedures for the field of AI, which affects all levels of society. The aims are thus scientific and technological progress to address problems in the judicial prosecution of criminal offenses in the field of AI manipulation. These aims are intended in particular to contribute to Germany’s digital forensic readiness and forensics by design.
The primary objective of this procurement is to have, by the end of the project, a final report documenting a laboratory setup as well as prototypical methodologies and tools that enable the legally admissible detection of various manipulation techniques in continuously learning AI systems. Thematically, the project is divided into the following research areas, which must be considered in relation to the law: 1) Intelligent image and video processing, 2) Intelligent text and audio processing, 3) Intelligent autonomous systems. In addition, existing forensic methods and tools must be evaluated in advance to determine their applicability to the individual research areas. The scope of work is divided into four phases. The best and most innovative of the competing solutions will be gradually identified and selected during the process based on the criteria specified in the procurement documents.
