Description
The aim of the competition is to research and develop forensic methods for auditing artificial intelligence in order to proactively empower the German state and its organs with legal certainty and procedures for the field of AI, which affects all levels of society. The aims are thus scientific and technological progress to address problems in the judicial prosecution of criminal offenses in the field of AI manipulation. In particular, these aims are intended to contribute to Germany’s digital forensic readiness and forensics by design.
The main objective of the procurement is to have a laboratory setup as well as prototypical methods and tools documented at the end of the project term on the basis of a final report, which will enable the court-proof detection of various manipulation procedures on continuously learning AI systems. Thematically, the project is divided into the following main research areas, which must be considered in relation to the law: 1) Intelligent image and video processing, 2) Intelligent text and audio processing, 3) Intelligent autonomous systems. In addition, existing forensic methods and tools must be checked in advance for their applicability to the individual research areas. The service provision is divided into four phases. The best and most innovative of the competing solutions will be determined and selected in stages as part of the procedure based on the criteria set out in the tender documents.
