We are the Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit GmbH. We call it Cyberagentur for short.
We are not a public authority or a normal company. Nor do we make profits like other companies. Our work is different. We think about security in the digital space and how it can be improved. We research new technologies for security in the digital space.
The Cyberagentur was founded in June 2020. Our task comes from the Federal Republic of Germany. We work for security in Germany. We are always thinking about what could be important in 10 to 15 years’ time. We work on ideas that perhaps no one has had yet.
To this end, we are finding new ideas for security in the digital space. We are researching these new ideas in detail. These ideas could have a major impact on security in the future. We commission research to start-ups, companies and researchers.
Our task is to launch, finance and manage these research projects. We support the projects from the initial idea to the first test in the laboratory. We always look 10 to 15 years into the future.
We have three main areas in which we conduct research:
- Secure society: This is about fake news and how people and machines work together, for example.
- Secure systems: This is about the security of public authorities, important infrastructures such as electricity or water, and security in difficult environments such as outer space.
- Key technologies: Here we are researching new technologies such as quantum computers, artificial intelligence and new encryption methods.
We observe what is happening in the world and look for new ideas for our research. For example, we are thinking about new computers, new types of digital security or intelligent drones.
The German Bundestag has made 240 million euros available for our work until the end of 2024.
