Mobile Infrastructure – Situation Orientation for Mobile Autonomous Systems (MoIn-LaMAS)

Description:

The aim of the project is to research and develop novel methods for generating a multifactorial situation picture for deployment scenarios in which large-scale communication and navigation services are not available (e.g. blocking of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)). This should help to enable mobile ad-hoc communication infrastructure in the future by allowing unmanned systems to place relays in an area in a way that is adapted to the situation. In particular, the focus here is on recording and evaluating the availability, bandwidth and physical properties of communication methods. The MoIn-LaMAS project is intended to expand the usable parameter space for the situation picture of autonomous unmanned systems in such a way that world model, localization and coordination in the network experience significant added value for the development of ad-hoc communication infrastructure. The research and development in MoIn-LaMAS enables a situation picture on the basis of which communication can be maintained and enabled quickly, dynamically and effectively under difficult (environmental) conditions. The planned demonstration of the project results strengthens the significance and facilitates the evaluation of the concept for the future. The target Technology Readiness Level (TRL) at the end of the project is 3 to 4, depending on the technology.
