Side-channel attacks with quantum sensors (SCA-QS)

Description

The research project “Side-channel attacks with quantum sensors” (SCA-QS) aims to identify potential new attack vectors on microchips using quantum sensors. In principle, quantum sensors (QS) have the potential to measure physical parameters with higher resolution, sensitivity or otherwise better. The suitability of different physical quantum sensor approaches for side channel attacks (SCA) on microchips will therefore be evaluated and analyzed comparatively with current SCA methods. In addition, the project aims to bring together experts from the fields of quantum sensor technology and side-channel attacks in order to facilitate a long-term exchange. The project will initially focus on identifying and researching the fundamental suitability of quantum sensor technology for side-channel attacks and subsequently developing promising approaches. The targeted Technology Readiness Level (TRL) at the end of the project is 3 to 4, depending on the technology.
