On March 19, 2024, the Cyberagentur gave members of the German Bundestag an insight into its research work. A brief interim assessment after almost four years of work and an outlook for the future of research into cybersecurity and Germany’s digital sovereignty were on the agenda of the 1st Parliamentary Breakfast at the Saxony-Anhalt State Representation in Berlin.

Roderich Kiesewetter, MP, shared his assessment of the current security situation with his fellow parliamentarians as a keynote speech and called for greater competitiveness in cyberspace and a focus on technological innovations alongside diplomatic measures in order to expand digital sovereignty.

General Michael Vetter, Head of the Cyber/Information Technology Department at the Federal Ministry of Defence, emphasized the progress made by the Cyberagentur. “It’s good that the Cyberagentur exists. Because if it didn’t exist, we would have to invent it.”

During the discussion, the members of the German Bundestag present emphasized that they were able to gain a positive impression of the Cyberagentur on site. They will work to ensure that the framework conditions for innovative research work are created.
